The City of Pueblo boasts a rich and vibrant history that dates back to 1842, originally known as Fort Pueblo. The transformation of our city from a small fort in southern Colorado into a key player in the state’s development was largely due to the ore mines. This region was home to four distinct towns—Pueblo, South Pueblo, Central Pueblo, and Bessemer—which now collectively form the City of Pueblo.
